Think of it as "Vacation Bible School" for Grown-Ups

(...but the kids are gonna love it, too!!!)

"What exactly IS this 'Comedy Crusade for Christ' thing?"

Simply put, Dan Wolfe's "Comedy Crusade for Christ" is a hilarious multi-night event that utilizes a unique blend of high-energy comedy, amazing magic and SOLID Bible teaching to reach young and old alike for the cause of Jesus Christ.

Available year-round, this exciting 3, 4 or 5-night program has been used as a dynamic departure from the usual "song-sermon-supplication" format of typical Crusades and Revivals.  And since Dan's appeal reaches ALL ages, it's even been called in as an easy and effective variation to the traditional Vacation Bible School!

The tightrope any program of this type must walk is to provide enough "pizzazz" to keep people interested (and coming back each night), but NOT enough to obscure the message.  According to those who’ve experienced it over the past ten years...Dan’s done it!

"And just what IS the message?"

Evangelism, Christian nurture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, of course!  Themes include "Who is Jesus?", "What did He do?", "What is sin?", "How does Jesus get rid of sins?", "Who is Satan?", "What is Faith?" , "How should we live as Christians?" and most importantly, "How do we get Jesus into our hearts?"

Each message builds on the one from the evening before; culminating with the Gospel presentation on the final night.  There is also enough of a recap at the start of each Concert so that people who may have missed previous nights won’t feel lost!

"What is a typical Crusade like?"

The opening segment runs 50-55 minutes and includes some astounding Gospel magic and illusions, comical object lessons, bible stories, audience participation...basically a lot of fun stuff to accompany the teaching.  "A spoonful of sugar," you know?

At this point there is a short intermission, about 20 minutes or so for visiting the restroom, stretching the legs a bit and refreshments...cookies, coffee, etc.  This break also allows Dan  to recuperate from the first half (he'll NEED it!), rearrange the platform and change the scenery for the second half of the evening.

After the intermission comes what has become the highlight of each session -- the nightly appearance of Dan’s world-renown tramp mime character, "The Amazing Earl."  First, they’ll see the transformation of Dan into "Earl" that has become so classic. Next, Earl launches into his antics and uses them to gently but effectively drive the message home.

Earl’s portion serves as a kind of wrap-up of the evening's message...done in a unique form of silent comedy reminiscent of the late Red Skelton.  This light hearted repetition of the original message presented in a completely different way serves to indelibly set the message in the minds of the congregation.

After Earl has finished, Dan steps out of character to give a brief application for the message and a closing prayer.

"How long is the event?"

The standard "Comedy Crusade for Christ" runs three nights with about two hours each night....perhaps a bit longer with larger groups and all the logistics of getting them from place to place during the intermission.  It is also available in four and five-night versions, but the format remains the same.  (The event takes a bit of effort on Dan's part to set up and tear down. It’s really not practical to use this event for anything less than three nights.)

We generally start at 6 or 7pm and finish by 8 or 9pm so folks make it home at a decent hour. As with everything, this can be flexible to fit your particular Church’s needs.

"What about promotion?"

Once a signed contract is returned to our office, you will receive a booklet giving ideas for promotion, plus reproducible materials, news releases, photos, flyers and bulletin inserts, etc. to aid in getting the word out to other Churches and the community at large about the event.

"How much space do you need?"

The more the better...

When setting up for a Crusade, a free-standing stage set is erected which helps create the mood for the programs.

Set for the first half...the Magic Segment        Set for the second half...Earl's Segment

The full set requires at LEAST twelve feet of overhead clearance. As far as floor space, we require a minimum of fourteen feet of width (more is better) and like to have at least twelve feet from the front edge of the platform to the back wall.  Again, more is BETTER!

What's described is the "ideal" environment, but our set is designed to be modular.  This makes it fairly flexible and it can usually be reconfigured to fit your particular situation.

NOTE: As an outreach option, the event could be held in a local auditorium.  People who normally wouldn't set FOOT in a Church (or in another DENOMINATION'S Church) will attend more readily if the event is held on "neutral ground."

"What ages is the Crusade geared to?"

EVERYONE!

Recalling the first time the program was ever presented, the hosting Church decided to bring it in just for the kids and schedule a "grown-up" Revival at the same time.  By mid-week, the Pastor confronted Dan with his frustration.  It seems that the adults were sneaking out of his Bible Study to see what was going on in the chapel...and staying!  They enjoyed it so much that they never went back!

This by the way, was back in the early days when the event WAS geared specifically for kids.  Now that it's been "adult-ized" a little bit, the adults generally outnumber the kids 4-to-1!   Dan's "Comedy Crusade for Christ" is a ministry event that the ENTIRE family can enjoy...TOGETHER!

Recently during an intermission, Dan asked a thirty-something couple if they were enjoying the program.  She responded, "Yes!  Definitely!  The only way I could enjoy it more is if there weren't any kids here."  Dan was taken aback and asked, "Don't you like kids?"  her husband answered, "We love kids.  It's just that they get all the good seats down front and WE have to sit all the way in the back."

That pretty much speaks for itself.

"Sounds Great! But what's all this going to cost?"

Gee, you didn't click on THIS link FIRST, did you?  It would be nice to know what the price is FOR, wouldn't it?  :o)

Well, the cost varies.  Travel expenses, airfares, lodging, etc. are different for every location and may even vary according to time of year.  Dan also brings in a sizeable stage setting for the sanctuary to set the mood, plus magic tricks, illusions, costumes and comedy props galore...most of which must be either shipped ahead of time or checked as extra baggage through the airlines.  The cost of that can vary widely as well.

As you may have guessed by now, there is no definitive figure listed on this page.  It just couldn't be done -- too many variables.  If you'd like a quote for having Dan present a Comedy Crusade in YOUR community, just CLICK HERE to visit our pricing page.  The figures there are only estimates, but they should give you an idea of what the costs might be.

You will undoubtedly have other questions that have not been addressed here. Please feel free to contact us at (423) 477-6624 or via E-Mail at . Rest assured that if we don’t know the answer, we’ll at least make up something interesting!

Thank you for taking the time to explore the "Comedy Crusade for CHRIST!" Please pray about it, ask God for His direction and let us know if Dan's inspired madness sounds right for your community.  We look forward to hearing from you.
