FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE To: ALL LOCAL MEDIA From: «First Name» «Organization» «Phone» Re: “The Passion” with Christian Comedian Dan Wolfe 814-752-2941 www.dwolfe.com «Organization» will be hosting a most unusual Easter program on «Concert Date»; part comedy, part drama and all presented by Christian Humorist, Dan Wolfe. The presentation is called “The Passion,” and according to Wolfe takes a “both reverent and whimsical” look at the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A comedian doing funny program about Easter? Isn’t that bordering on blasphemy? “Absolutely not,” says Wolfe. “I would never poke fun at Jesus Christ or the sacrifice He made for us. However the humans around Him are definitely fair game.” In "The Passion," which Wolfe describes as a One-man Passion Play presented entirely in pantomime, he portrays the apostle Peter, a Roman Soldier and even Pontius Pilate; bringing out the comic side of each one. He even goes so far as to illustrate the events associated with Palm Sunday by wheeling Jesus in on the back of a makeshift donkey while jigging to the strains of a hymn-playing Marching Band. "You really have to search to find levity in the story of Jesus' final week," says Wolfe. "But we know how it ends. Christ rose from the grave! It’s a happy story!" On a more serious note, "The Passion" also depicts the Crucifixion of Christ, his burial in the tomb, then a touching and powerful portrait of His resurrection and ascension. According to Wolfe, this presentation is his favorite. "It's a very difficult Program" he says. "Both physically and emotionally it's extremely demanding. But the positive impact it has on an audience makes it all worthwhile." Wolfe was at first hesitant about doing presenting a humorous Easter program. “People would call after seeing my Christmas program and say, ‘That was great! What have you got for Easter?’ For years I had to say ‘Nothing.’ I always felt that the Easter story was too important to be done poorly.” “Then I was inspired,” Wolfe continues. “A complete script began coming to me faster than I could type it. Six weeks later I presented ‘The Passion’ for the very first time. That night it got a huge standing ovation. I’ve been presenting it during Lent for seven years now.” Based in the village of Clarington, Pennsylvania, Wolfe is also a guest columnist for half a dozen industry magazines and presents lectures on ministering through magic, humor and pantomime at many conventions each year. With eight First Place Trophies to his credit, he has been honored as Best Overall Male Entertainer by the PA/Ohio/NY/Ontario Comedy Association for an unprecedented four consecutive years. "We are told to make a joyful noise," says Wolfe. "And there's no more joyful sound than laughter. Easter is not a melancholy memorial. It’s a celebration! If I can help others to experience the joy of the Season, then my purpose has been served." Dan Wolfe will bring his special manner of Ministry to the «Organization» in «Location» on «Concert Date» at «Time». A freewill offering will be taken to support Wolfe's Ministry. The public is invited to come, worship and laugh.
