Since 1992 Dan has
visited nearly a thousand Churches of virtually every Christian denomination
from Southern Baptist to Ukrainian Orthodox and has never had his
theology called into question by any of them.
-
He doesn't preach
doctrines -- he just preaches Jesus!
-
Dan believes that
there are too many little things that divide various denominations, and
prefers to concentrate instead on the IMPORTANT things that bring us
together.
-
When we get to
Heaven, we'll discover that we're all on the "same
side." Why not ACT that way now?
-
Churches are like
mailboxes; There's one on every corner, some are slot-loaded, some have
a funky flipper-lid. They may look different, act different and
have different expected "pick-up times." But in the end,
they're all there for the same thing...and they all work for the same
Guy.
One other detail;
during Dan's concerts, the Gospel is clearly presented, however there is no
walking-down-the-aisle-type altar call. He believes that a person's
relationship with God is a personal thing. (Dan came to the Lord
all alone one night -- no hand-raising involved...although there was some
crying and kneeling.)
Dan does not
personally do any individual counseling when people accept Jesus at his
appearances. He thinks of his role as being more like that of Johnny
Appleseed...planting the Gospel and moving on. New Christians are like
baby chickens; the first animal they see becomes their spiritual
"mother" in a sense. Dan feels that it's infinitely more
effective if they "imprint" upon someone from the hosting Church
-- someone who will be there when they need them. After all, Dan will
be moving on after the program...he's got seeds to plant. He leaves it
to the local Church to cultivate those seeds and bring them to fruition.
Some say that unless
you declare it publicly (i.e., walking down the aisle), your salvation isn't real. Dan figures that
once the Lord gets hold of you (as He did him), you'll get so excited when
you actually feel Him working in your life, you'll tell people later.
If you have specific
questions about Dan's beliefs, feel free to send
him an email and ask.
